Rosh Hashanah,
The new Jewish year. It is celebrated on the first day of the Hebrew month Tishrey. It is time for new beginnings and time for deep reflection.

What makes this holiday special besides of the beginning of New Year are the celebrations.
The holiday spirit begins at least a month early when every body is busy with shopping either for gifts or for groceries for the holiday dinner.

Rosh Hashanah is a holiday with a lot of symbols - it is customary to eat apple with honey to wish every body sweet as honey new year, to eat grenade (the fruit) so that we will be fruitful as the grenade seeds and of course the fish (or as some may say - the head of the fish) so that we will always be the head and not the tail.

If you read what I writing, then you probable notice that it is all about eating! You are correct. The Jewish holidays are all about eating with your family. The funny thing about it that we literally stuffing our self’s and then we complain “oh my god, I ate to much.. tomorrow I’m starting a diet, and when tomorrow arrives you have a another big lunch with a lot of food and there is always someone that will be insulted if you wont try what they have cooked just for you!
Then yes, every Jewish holiday is mainly about eating and being together with the people you care the most - your family.

So SHANA TOVA to every body and May all your wished will came true.

Fundraising for the autistic children in Israel by selling Jewish calendars and greeting cards for the new Jewish year, printed with charming drawings made by the autistic children.

Few years ago, just after sunset in the small village I leave, we heard some crying outside. As we went out we saw everybody crying and looking for a small child that was missing. Finally, just before midnight, we found him walking around in the play garden, not so far away from his home, minding his own business, and unaware of the drama surrounding him. People said that time, that the boy suffers from autistic disability, and that was the reason why he didn’t response to our calls.

A while ago, I came across a beautiful calendar produced by ALUT (the Israeli Society for Autistic Children) printed with spectacular drawings that drew my attention. Being a company owner, omanot.com, whose main goal is to promote the Israeli artists and art by distributing their unique items worldwide, I wondered who could be the painters. And it was stoning discovery that all the drawings were made by autistic children.

I looked at the pictures and remember the young child walking at the dark play garden, while we all looked for him. I recalled the talks about his incapability to communicate, but looking at the drawing I felt something in my heart, as these children might have different way to say things.

The drawings were rich with color, emotions and vivid imagination, it seemed like through their painting they being trying to reach out for the world and share their feelings and thoughts. I felt I have to do something to help those young artists.

Since ALUT producing new calendar and New Year’s greeting cards with autistic children paintings in order to raise money for the organization activities, I decided to volunteer and help them sell these items through OMANOT.COM website.

Purchasing one of ALUT’s items is not only a donation to advance the rights of autistic children in Israel, to ensure their well-being, education and integration; it is also acquiring a piece of art that will accompany you all year round.

The calendars and greeting cards can be purchased at http://www.omanot.com/
